Here it is boys and girls, the book only I have been waiting for. But I plan to share it's existence with you. Basically Color Ink Book is a periodical that comes out about 4 times a year, and it showcases the art of up and coming artists or existing legendary artists. It uses their art in black and white format making it like an adult coloring book. It's a real nice coffee table piece and it's only $10, so get yours today. This volume however is the one I'm in, I have about 9 pages of illustrations in there and the other artists in the same issue are pretty awesome so it won't let you down. But feel free to browse their store and get some back issues too, at $10 bucks you can't go wrong. Thanks for your on going support.

The El Paso people I got to talk to we're all super nice and courteous. I went in thinking I was gonna get kidnapped and wake up in Juarez somewhere, man was I mistaken. ACTION FILLED WEEKEND!

To start the weekend off right, I went with a whole crew from work to The Railroad Revival tour in San Pedro, CA. It was the Old Crow Medicine Show, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's and headlining was Mumford and Sons. All I got to say is all 3 of these bands rocked it!! Everything sounded exactly as it did on their cd's. Very talented musicians.

Next up was the Phillies vs. Padres game. I took my buddy Matt to the game to celebrate the birth of his son. Boys night out! Anyways, the tickets were pretty damn good, along the 3rd baseline. You can tell the seats are good when you start seeing celebrities sitting near you. I ran into Nick Swardson from Reno 911. Truly one of my hero's. It didn't matter that the Padres lost, I got to take a photo with Nick. Although my camera really sucks so here is the turd my camera produced.

Then Sunday we ended it off with a nice little bonfire Easter Dinner at my friend Suzie's house. Pretty nice weekend I must say...

We took a work field trip yesterday and caught this show. It was pretty awesome seeing some of my favorite artists stuff up close and personal. I now, I know, this show has been up for a few months now but I just couldn't get around to it. Either way glad I caught it before it goes down on the 2nd of January. If you haven't seen it, do it! There are a few Banksy piece's and Faile pieces that they wouldn't allow me to photograph ??? Oh well. Here are the photos, enjoy...

THE RON ENGLISH SHOW AT OCC

OK, first off, you need to go check this show out. As an artist, I was blown away at the detail and skill this dude posses. He's got mad skill as a fine artists and makes it even cooler by mixing it with pop culture. I've always known about him, but now, I am truly a fan. I can only hope to be as good as him one day. I guess I should learn to paint first, that would probably make my drawings cooler.

But I digress, the show is up at OCC (Orange Coast College) in Costa Mesa, it isfree and it is awesome. Do it!

Here is a close up of the Hulk Baby, FYI there was also a plastic mold of it next to the painting.

The detail in this piece was amazing, but its the same in all of them really. A mix of collage work with painting over all the individual collaged pieces.

My buddy Ramon made this video inspired by our "Man Nights", in which a few of us get together and eat pizza rolls, beef jerky, lil beef smokies and any other manly thing you can think of and wash it down with booze. This is a more detailed version of the illustration. The original art is a bitmap (holds more detailed), but since I submitted my design 2 minutes before the dealine I had to rig it up all fast and vectorized, so it lost a lot of detail. It was also my first submission ever on that site, so now I see how fancy people can get with there submissions.

PIERCE THE VEIL - WARPED TOUR PROJECT...

So earlier this year, Vic, lead singer of PTV got a hold of me with a cool offer. He wanted me to design their stage, merch tent, and T-shirt for their upcoming Warped Tour calender. Couldn't pass that up. I met Vic and his brother Mike at El Camino Restaurant and got the wheels in motion. Here are the graphics they ended up going with as well as a few photos of their performances I found online. I hope the owners of these photos don't mind I'm posting them on my blog. The band is supposed to send me some photos but I'm pretty sure they are mad busy. Anyhow, here they are (Also, I threw a mock up of the stage set that Vic put together with some of my older art and his bro on the drums)....

BUENA VISTA : FOR SEZIO 2 YEAR ANIV. PARTY

Here is my piece for the Sezio 2 Year Anniversary event. It's Manuel "Guajiro" Mirabal from the Buena Vista Social Club. Before I received some kind of notoriety for my Mexican "Day of the Dead" style, I was and hope to one day (if time allows) continue on my path of educating the masses about Cuba through my paintings and illustrations. There is a beautiful culture and past, and I feel not too many people know about it.

I hope to see you guys at the event on the June 12th. I will only be there for about an hour or 2, so hopefully we can catch up and chat. My amazing girlfriend gets her PhD degree that day, and that takes precedence over anything. So have fun at the Casbah after, it's gonna be a great event!

One of the many new pieces I am working on for next month's show at Thumb Print Gallery in North Park with the one and only Exist 1981. Stay tuned for more.

I started this painting at an event called "Ocean Beats" at Winston's in OB. It was dark in there so I figured why not feed off the vibe. Never heard back from the promoter of the event, so I don't know if my presence was appreciated. At least a patron of the event thought the art was rad and bought me a drink. Thanks dude! Whoever you are. Either way, I got this cool painting out of it, and was blown away by this DJ called "Bus Driver".

AKA SURF BOARDS

Here are a few boards I did last month for my buddy Justin at AKA Surfboards. It's cool to paint on these things from time to time, being as this was how I got my foot into the whole art thing.

Aside from the art, how sick do these boards look? Jeez, I wanna ride all of them! If you haven't ridden an AKA yet, you better get your ass on one. You will not regret it.

THE ENRIQUE EXPERIENCE

So I had the pleasure of meeting this guy, Enrique, the most animated person I've ever met and with the most positive energy ever. He liked my art and he wanted me to participate in his show. So this is what he pulled off in a short times notice.

He called the show "the Enrique Experience" and it's basically 12 of his favorite columns paired up with 12 of his favorite local artists. The show was insane, tall boys (beer) deep fried Oreo's, spiked ice cream pops, and live music. Awesome experience, hope most of you made it out for this one. It was a show people are still talking about. Alright enough with that, here are the photos.

Just a fun project I had a chance to do. Don't know if many of you know this but I play in 3 softball leagues (2 are Co-ed) and I also play on 2 fast-pitch baseball leagues, but I digress... this is a logo I created for my team up in Irvine. We are the Stepkids and basically we are a bunch of different people within the action sports industry without a softball team to call our own. For example, Rip Curl, Volcom, Primo Beer, to name a few.

So we play every Thursday night and we are damn good, always fighting for 1st place. Anyways, we were good enough to get picked up by Malakye. They now want to sponsor us. So we soon well have a Malakye added to this logo.

THE FORD FIESTA PARTY @ EL CAMINO RESTAURANT

This was such a rad wrap up party for this particular challenge. You can't beat free food and happy hour drinks, plus throw in some live screen printing and you've got yourself quite the soiree. It turned out to be a really cool last minute event, and I was super stoked to see some folks I haven't seen in a while and also meet some cool new ones. Thank you Sezio & Holiday Matinee!!

FORD FIESTA CHALLENGE #3

My good friend Zack from Sezio approached me with this challenge for his team, in this Ford Fiesta movement contest. Basically, Zack and Dave Brown from Holiday Matinee have been test driving this car that won't be out for a few more months. However, so are a bunch of other teams in other main cities. They have certain challenges they have to partake in, so far they have been killing it. For their 3rd challenge they have to get an artist to draw up a tee design, and luckily they picked me. Couldn't have come at a better time, even though I work full time, I still find myself dancing on street corners just to make ends meet. Anyways, I am straying away from the point.

So now, this is where I come in...I get a phone call from Zack, he says he needs a t-shirt design by tuesday (it's friday evening and I have an event filled weekend), I say, "I don't know man, its kind of last minute" he then tells me how much I would get paid, I said "yes, I will do the design". Finished it, got paid and here it is...

It was a fun night reuniting with the Fieldtrip posse. Alot of good friends and talented artists. Also there that night was that band LMFAO, the shot song people. Silly. :P

I got this great opportunity to be a part of a this Boat House project, my only dilema was that the mural had to be done by friday for the show.

I had multiple images in my sketchbooks that I wanted to use. But they were all very ambitious. Instead, opted to go the clean route with something totally new and in a comic book style. A crazy looking lady holding a Santa Muerte statue is what came up. I know its wierd. But I was doing some internet research earlier that day and came across this lady's senior class photo and felt it had to get some praise for pulling off such a great expression. Drew it up, got home, scanned it, printed it on a transparancy and hauled ass to make it happen in one night.

The finished product will be up soon. Just need to get a nice looking finished photo from one of my photographer friends.

FINISHED MURAL FOR "HOPE FOR HAITI" SHOW

This was the mural that Alex, Krystie and I painted live during the "Hope for Haiti" art show.

Thanks to One Wing Monkey for throwing and curating the event. It was an awesome turnout, and most importantly we held a silent auction for this piece and we managed to make $1000 off of it to donate to Haiti.

The Zombettes were a hit at the show. I was doing some research to find the perfect zombie and found a few of one particular girl at a zombie walk in some random city. Anyways, she was a great muse for this painting. Hopefully she will find it one day and appreciate it.

Hopefully most of you got to make it out to this show. (Just goes to show what a bad blogger I am, I am posting this after the matter. But it's mostly to document that it happened.) There were about 500 of you at the show so the turnout was overwhelmingly good.

It was an amazing show, and all you guys made it an awesome night. What can I say about the Mattson 2? They are a very talented band and always a crowd pleaser. There will be more shows down the pipeline at the Light Box. We'll make sure to keep you all posted.
